Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez is a popular Mexican-American actress singer and writer. Her mother raised her in the USA she was subject to a lot of racial taunts which gave her feeling of being unwelcome. In the ninth grade, after a school audition in which she received high praise for her singing as she built confidence. Not only did she gain confidence from the experience however, she also re-evaluate her career goals. In 1992, she earned her diploma from the New York's Julliard School. At the age of 23 years old, she launched her career in Broadway in Paul Simon's The Capeman. Then, aged 23, her movie debut was You've got mail. The part of The Lady of The Lake was her biggest success, and earned her the Tony Award in addition to praise from critics for her role. The following year, she was cast as the character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gaining wider fame. She is also a known artist and published an extended version of her play. As an activist, she is a tireless advocate for LGBT equality.
